Back story - back in about 1995, I bought a Made in Japan Charvel LS-1 goldtop with Jackson pickups, it was made about 1992/93. I paid 600 used for it then, kind of much I know, Canadian bucks - that is like $495 US. Sold it in around 2001 because I was in financial trouble, to an ex bandmate and friend for a VERY low price with the promise he sell it back at same price when I got on my feet. I got on my feet, and he wanted triple what he paid me - needless to say I don't speak to him now....Now, after many years of 'searching in the back of my mind' because they're so rare, I found one locally at a GREAT price of $400 Canadian, $291 US. I think I'd be crazy to pass up something Made in Japan that plays and sounds amazing for that price....

What do you all think? Anyone heard of this model? It's a lot like a PRS shape....

If you can afford it buy it. Should be easy to get you money back and then some if you decide you don't like it.

Sorry to hear about the agreement falling through--I guess times are tough.

That guitar is totally awesome. Where else are you going to get that quality at that price?

    Go for it!

That's a great-looking guitar and I'm with the crowd. You've been wanting one a long time. Get it or regret it.

I decided to pass on it, I haven't even played 5 minutes in the last 3-6 months so why bother? I have 4 guitars I really like now.....

There will always be more guitars out there mate, but you have to pick the moment when you really won't notice the outlay. Things are too uncertain at the moment to take chances. :)

If it’s still something you want, and you’ve got the means, then snatch this before someone else comes along. It’s priced to move quickly. You shouldn’t have any issues recouping your investment on this down the line if you decide to part with this one.

Bummer about your old band mate.

Edit: just finished the rest of the thread and saw you decided to pass on it...

I wonder if shipping is an option...
that guitar is kind of rare with some cool features .
I like the "no trem" factor, string through body and the set neck too.
Both rarer features for a Charvel. And those are pretty decent pickups.
Lot little oddball features for a Charvel, body shape, headstock design, tune-o-matic bridge and as I mentioned, string through body and the set neck. I don't remember ever playing a bad Charvel.
Now is a good time to be buying those older Charvels, the prices are SO low on the late 80s-early 90s MIJ models. It's a bit of a headscratcher to me, but I will take advantage of the low prices whenever I can.
    Twice this year.
$300 is a little over half of what most are asking, I'm seeing $500ish.
Personally I hope you change your mind.
If not, I say again, I wonder if shipping is an option?
Cause at that price I would buy it.

or you could jump on this one..

I hadn't found any references to a neck through model, although it wouldn't surprise me as they made some in the late 80s.
All that I found appear to be set neck models like this one looks to be,
    IMG_0783_zpsecf81deb.jpg
pretty obvious seam down the middle of the back and the little shelf at the join made me think set neck.
But Charvel did like to mix things up at times, I have a 91 375 Deluxe body with quilted maple top And back in Transparent Blue.
Not a problem except that according to the catalogs they didn't offer Quilted maple top or back, they did offer Flame maple T&B.
And they didn't offer Transparent Blue, just Candy Blue and Pearl Blue.
Probably seen this one before but to illustrate the point,

So never say never with old Charvels!
so.... do they ship? Private seller? Shop?
You want to ship it?
