Well I finally finished the Epi Jr rebuild. But after I was done with the wiring I got no output. I spent 2 hours checking and re-soldering connections, double checking the diagram and still nothing. I figured I should be getting some kind of noise, good, bad or whatever. Amp sounded like it wasn’t even on. I finally grabbed another guitar and still got nothing then realized I had the cord plugged into the amp’s headphone jack. Like I said, moron. Well here she is in all her glory. I’ve edited the post to show a before and after. I only painted the top and filled the long sides of the pickup cavity to hide the small gap left from the P90 cover. Also installed some inexpensive Kluson style tuners.
Coulda' been worse. If you're a moron for that mistake I wonder what that makes me. Beautiful guitar! Tell us about the finish.
Wow! That turned out great, it might be the nicest looking jr I've ever seen. Congratulations on a job well done sir.
Great looking Jr! I have a couple stories which begin "If it gets worse than this I ain't telling it". In my professional maintenance days we simply called it operator headspace.
That's a Beautiful guitar, I kinda did the same type of thing. I repaired an input jack in a guitar amp, my first ever attempt, so I thought I failed. Afterwards I realized I hadnt attach the two speaker wires to the amp. Duh.
In and after the Army, we'd call it 'Headspace and Timing', a double meaning of setting an M2 for firing and SNAFU moves It's amazing, they still use the M2 .50 cal today, even though John Bowning invented it at the end of WW I, 1917, Modeled after his .30 cal, even using the exact same 'Headspace and Timing' gauges until the adoption of the M2A1 in 2010. Almost 100 years. It's longevity at least in part to a closed-bolt design, rare for any machine gun. My 'Headspace and Timing' gauge disappeared in the move to TN
I'd laugh my ass off at you for that. Because honestly that's the kind of thag that makes me want to punch myself in the face when I do it. Depending on if it happens to me or you is the difference between tragedy or comedy. Just real life.
I do stupid stuff all the time and I just did. I'll give you a example of what I'm talking about. I am on oxygen so I always do something stupid like set my hose up on my face and sit here for quite awhile but forget to turn the machine on. "Just did that". Or I'll turn on the machine and the hose is still hanging on the hook behind my chair.... The instant headache lets me know...
We've probably all made our share of stupid harmless mistakes. Just don't put a tube in the wrong socket like I've done (more than once).
