Hello there! It’s sharkgutz17, just picked up my first electric guitar the other day from another member of this forum @JurnyWannaBe He told me about this forum so I thought I would hop on.

A little about myself... I am a classically trained vocalist And learned piano for about 7 years. I played acoustic for a few months off and on in college (never was any good haha). Had to sell that guitar a few years ago and haven’t played since. Just picked up a practically new squire bullet strat and I am loving it. Since I got the strat I’ve been learning almost exclusively the minor pentatonic scale (Getting the pinky to fret clearly on the low E string has been the hardest part for me so any tips on that in terms of hand/thumb positioning would be great!) I am super excited to see what kind of progress I can make.

I’ll be snooping around this forum in the meantime I hope to gain some great knowledge from you guys.

this guitar is super clean and the neck feels great the fret ends are super smooth, I didn’t think I was a fan of the sunburst finish but now that it’s in my hands it’s really growing on me.

Welcome to the forum! I’m glad @JurnyWannaBe told you about us! That’s a great looking guitar, and coming from him I’m sure it’s in great shape. As far as that pinky is concerned, it’s probably just lack of strength. Just keep practicing every day and the strength will come.

Oh haha that’s how you spell his name! I kinda figured my finger strength would be something I needed to work on. Thanks for the welcome!

It's good to meet you @Sharkgutz17. That's a good looking Strat too. All I can recommend about your little finger on the low e is do it a whole bunch, as slowly as you need to to make it clean, and it will slowly get easier.

You've had experience learning to sing and to play the piano, so you probably already know what it takes to improve. I studied classical piano for ten years starting in the '60s, and when I'm practicing guitar I often hear my piano teacher telling me to slow down and do it cleanly, then speed up. She also tells me to do it over and over until it's perfect. :)
