Ask WhiskeyJim*rocknrguitars on eBay to build you one. He’s the best. Great parts and craftsmanship.
I couldn't find him on ebay, but found
same person ? Thanks !
yes. Here he is on eBay:
If you contact him, he’ll make a custom Loaded PG. check out the quality of his parts and workmanship in the pictures. Many fans of his on the board. Ask @Eddie
What type of dirt are you looking for with your Strat? Give me some song titles for examples.
judging by the knobs, it looks like a boost + EQ pedal. Is it? I have the JHS haunting mids, which really helps a lot with dialing in the tone on any guitar. I'm gonna keep trying different amp/pedal combos. Eventually I'll nail it !
Along the lines of Foo Fighters - Monkey Wrench, Tom Petty & HB - Mary Jane's last dance, Big Wreck - That Song, Bush - everything Zen. I realize that's a wide range of different gain profiles, but they all have that "growl", for lack of a better word. It seems like no matter what, the Strat always has that "bell" character to it, which is also it's main claim to fame. I don't know, it just seems like in a lot of demos I've seen, a lot of people are getting tones with a Strat that I haven't been able to find yet.
I have a spare speaker...might be worth a try !
It also has Mike Campbell playing it
I was at a Ted Nugent concert in 1975 and he put an arrow into a 4x12 cabinet, then started playing.
Monkey Wrench: Humbucker song
Tom Petty Mary Jane: Tom's Strat tones are clean. Mike is playing humbuckers with some dirt for leads. Plus there's a lot of tone processing going on. Watch the rig review and pay attention to the different guitar tunings.
Bush: P90/Jazzmaster pickups that I don't think you'll get to close to with a stratocaster with singles.
So you're saying I need more gear !? I'll let my wife know !
The blue tube? It’s a tube preamp, I got it cheaper than the BD-2 or the JHS haunting mids.
There is a grittier model called a a Tube Driver.
I was planning to buy the JHS Clover when this popped up on the radar.
Maybe add a SD Little 59'er to your strats bridge position.
How about putting in a set of GM Hot Rodded Humbuckers and an HH PG? They growl. If you coil split using a five way switch and the Seymour Duncan HH coil split wiring diagram, you can get the growls and the sweet strat bell sounds too. If you don’t want pups that hot, you can use the GM 57’s too.
Do you still own the T? If so, then you’re good to go. Hard to find a guitar that can cover all the bases. Choose the right tool as needed...this is why many folks have several (or more) guitars, they all do their own thing. I have no advice if the Strat is your only guitar
Little 59'r and a RAT, OCD or crowther hot cake sound like a great idea to me!
Could just buy a Marshall JCM 800.
Pickup wise a single coil sized HB or a higher output single coil will also help. Ive got one of these in my strat at the moment and its killer mine is overwound to 13k though.
Yes, a Rat plays well with single coils! Does low gain and high gain. Cleans up nicely with the guitar’s volume knob. Mine is a $15 Mosky.
