Hey folks, I've lurked a little and finally registered. I'm primarily a bassplayer and I've owned and modded countless squiers over my days. I have until last Friday never owned a squier guitar.

My friend was planning to throw his electric into a skip whilst doing a bit of a clear out and asked if I wanted to take it off his hands instead of it going to waste. Like a said I'm primarily a bassplayer and own one other guitar ( a harley benton fan fret 7 string which has been modded) which I use to help write music and also record with, but rather it go to waste I took it iff his hands. Fast forward a few days it was in a poor state, missing a string and the others were rusted, fretboard was a mess, frets badly needed polished and the pickguard was slightly warped. A few hours later after some tlc and new strings it plays like butter. I kinda like the stick pickups although I'm on the fence as to whether I will swap them out in the future, the machine heads are good (surprisingly) and the only parts getting replaced are the steing trees for some gotoh roller ones.... anyway I'm rambling heres some pictures I took after I cleaned her up. The S/N dates it a 2001 crafted in the Yako plant, any more information would be helpful if you guys know any. She's a heavy beast for sure.

    Hi and welcome to Squier-Talk.

You hit a small jackpot. While not my personally preferred 'NC', it is Yako made. That means it is of the highest quality for a Squier, Chinese or otherwise (except Japanese 80's). A lot of folks feel (of which I am one) that Yako made guitars are some of the finest built by Squier.

All of my Strats, 1 of my Tele's and 2 of my basses are Yako built, NC or YN.

(Just a FYI since you are new, NC / YN are the first two digits of the serial number of certain Chinese {Yako} built in the early to mid-90's. CY began in '98.)
