Hey everyone! My name is Matt. I'm 29 and just started playing guitar about a month ago (as of my registration on this website). My first guitar and only guitar at the moment is the Squier Bullet strat HSS Hardtail, black metallic. I love the colors on it and would like to learn more about the guitar and any future upgrades I can do. I have already replaced the standard tuning machines with D'Addario locking tuners instead as they came highly recommended and they had them in black.

I looks forward to being a part of this community!

    Welcome to ST.

Sounds like you're well on your way to playing and modding. You may find two or three (hundred thousand) threads about swapping this and modding that. You will also read many speak volumes of the importance of a proper set up. Hint hint. Did I say welcome?

This thread is now 32 pages long, started a little over a year. Check it out.

Just a little lingo gap happening here Matt. Your picture is of your 'gear', and we love gear and pics of gear!

The set up I referred to is setting the neck / adjusting the truss rod, setting string and pickup height, setting intonation. Guitar shops charge anywhere from $50 and up to perform a set up. If you are not askeered of allen wrenches and screwy drivers do not be intimidated by it. A proper set up can make our inexpensive Squiers perform great. :)

    Hi and welcome to Squier-Talk.

Bullet hardtail is a good guitar. I see you've began learning guitar just recently. While you've already changed the tuners, which is cool, but I recommend playing the guitar for an extended amount of time. Learn songs, riffs, technique, creating sounds, etc before you get heavy into modding. That is not to be mean but If you play the guitar for a while, you'll know better what you want/need/desire to change about it, rather than going on someone else's opinion on which mods. Talk to 25 people and you'll probably get 20-25 different answers as to what to do. If you've played it a while, you'll know which advice to follow, and which not. Just a thought, FYI.

Meanwhile, have tons of fun playing that guitar.

Thanks for the input! I don't think you're being mean or anything. The tuners the guitar came with did not stay in tune very well which led to me looking into the mod in the first place. Put some new, less cheap strings on it as well while I was at it. I will mod it down the line more I'm sure but its not a priority at the moment.
