Hey dudes. I'm the kinda guy who loves to tinker and mess with things, and recently I've been trying my hand at some guitar builds. Thought I'd share 'em.

Here's the first one, a Bronco Bass my friend had laying around that he let me have. Being my first real project, there's some rough edges that need to be smoothed over but aside from that I'm rather pleased with it.

    Paint/body:
Rustoleum ColorShift paint (Turquoise Waters), WD Musicmaster pickguard
    Electronics:
    Seymour Duncan Hot Rails pickup
    Push-pull volume pot for series/parallel
Seymour Duncan Blackouts Bass 2-band preamp
    Preamp bypass switch

And the second one, an old Affinity Strat. This was originally an art project by my friend in high school as a "steampunk Strat," but over the many years since then, it was neglected and fell into disrepair. I wanted to give it a second lease on life while also paying homage to its previous incarnation, which is why I went with crackle over copper for the paint job.

    Paint/body:
Montana Cans (Pure White/Crackle Pure White/Varnish Clear)/Krylon (Metallic Copper), Warmoth HSH pickguard
    Wilkinson bridge and tuners
    Electronics:
Seymour Duncan P-Rails (neck and bridge), Lace Sensor Silver (middle)
    Coil select switch (neck+bridge inner/series/outer), seven-sound switch

Very cool! How does one achieve a crackle finish like that?

It's just a special paint formulation. This dude gave me the idea:

College Station. Which is to say not very.
