I think it looks rad! And less break angle at the nut than the nuts pay top pesos for!
^...Thought it was Long Dong Silver
These are supposed to be EXCELLENT guitars, but that headstock...
I just can't, the shape, the font, the design...
Also, I'm sure many will disagree, but for some reason not a fan of 70s Strat headstocks... (also, David Gilmour took a hacksaw to his )
Man, that one looks terrible haha
Lotus stepped up and built two superstrats deserving of the name. The 1110 and the 1190. One a square edged thick ash body, standard strat style bridge, with an old fashioned three piece neck, where the neck is three pie wedges that go full length with thick fingerboard. The neck is wide enough to use as a landing strip, so not for small hands. It weighs a ton!
The other a thin edged Floyd Rose type with an ash body. They are both legit guitars, but then they used the lopsided acorn headstock on them. You would not want to pay to have the 1110 built, but because of the headstock design, they sell for the same prices as laminate body Lotus strats do.
This is the 1110 from another post here. You have to scroll down to find it, but the headstock is hard to miss!
Headstock on my 1994 Washburn....
Who makes that guitar anyway?
Fonz Guitars, Inc? Is it tuned to open Aaaaaayyyyyyyyy?
You decide ... I vote not bad
I modified a Squier headstock with a chiseling tool to resemble a Bigsby.
My Japanese vintage El Degas guitar has an interesting headstock sort of similar to another Japanese brand.
That looks amazing
And could be used as a weapon if necessary.
Does anyone else think it’s cool how G&L’ headstock pays homage to both the Strat and the Tele?
My favorite Epiphone/Gibson headstock.
This is actually a current production model...YUCKKKKK!!!
The Martin is perfect, no need to be changed, most copied acoustic headstock ever. Starcaster is also perfect, which is why Bilt and many others have, um, appropriated it.
If you want ugly check out DiPinto and MusicVox.
By and large most headstocks don't really move me either way. A few notable exceptions being the the early eighties and earlier Alvarz Square top (ala Martin) which signifies a MIJ Alvarez is super, if only for the models it represents.. The next one, I call the two t**ies headstock, I could live without.
My all time hideously ugly award goes to the Greg Bennett Samicks.
I dont mind the AXL headstock but I’m not a fan of theirs for personal reasons. When they were new on the block I reached out to their Hayward Ca HQ and they basically laughed at me with a smart assy “you are NOT” Duncan. That hurted a little.
