i scoured Craig's list and found a OLD 2002 SQUIER BULLET STRAT for $20 as a fun project .this thing was a total mess missing saddles and broken tuners every thing on it was loose or broken not to say it had about a mountain of dirt and dust ,grime.i handled it with gloves it was so dirty.but after some initial cleaning i checked the neck and it was good to go with some adjustments .i broke it all down cleaned leveled and crowned and polish i put a aged cream loaded Alnico v pick guard from amazon for $35 i had a old set of fender standard tuners laying in a parts box and a old hard tail bridge .did a great setup and it is now a rock machine .it was so much fun to do i played it for hours action is low and it plays fast.

I had flipped an old hard tail one of these years ago, I remember the neck was actually very very nice , the body kinda thin

Congrats ... I bet that was a fun project :) I love the part of a rebuild when you plug one up for the first time and get to hear her sing.

I have been thinking of buying that $35 Alnico V loaded pick guard for a Squier Affinity Strat I have had for years. How does it sound?
