Laminate hardtails are ok - a little thin maybe ? I had a few - since you have the tuners off - slap some slotted tuners on her 10.00 - they will cover most of the holes. with a pool route you can do everything ? you have a great fun project cookin ! take a lot of pics !!!!!!

I will take pics as I go.. . I have to first design the slide assembly inside the body boat route. Thinking of using sliding draw brackets.

I'm thinking of using this for the sliding pickup, in the boat route. I may have to alter it I suppose. Its probably way too long and too high.

rattle and loss of vibration - wherever the pup is - the mech holding it there must be solid / locked down - but I'm digging the concept !

On YT, Some guy used Legos and Lego wheels attached to the pickup somehow. I'll try and find it.

I'm a wholehearted supporter of scuff-sanding the existing finish and spraying over it. I figure that 90% of painting is surface prep and you've already got a tremendously flat, stable surface on there already.

I'm working up to a matte black spray job for a dinged up black SE body and I've been doing some testing on some scrap pieces of an old Starcaster Mini body. The spray paint looks great over the poly and very solid adhesion. I need a better ding filler than the wood filler I tried. I think that my next attempt will be good old Bondo.

But if you're spraying red over a black base, you're more likely to end up with CAR than Fiesta, depending on how thick you are putting on the color coats. Should be hot either way.

Thats what i figured, and thanks for your timely advice. Question: I have never spray painted a body, i have used clear coat, but never sprayed a color paint. What paint would you recommend?

I just Clear Coated The Franken Squier Headstock, its a little warmer here in NY, so I figured I'd do it now and get her done.

    Before and After Pics, Respectively...

If you look closely, you can see a light fade by the headstock logo, from me sanding off the original painted Squier logo. I'm not to anal I guess, as I could of restained the headstock first, then applied the Franken Logo, and in turn clear coated it.

Its looking pretty cool so far... I can't wait to paint the body fiesta red. Then I'll configure the slide pickup mount into the body. Gonna be nice I'm sure.

Perhaps, I'll utilize 1 humbucker pickup that goes into the slide mechanism, im just not sure yet. I do like single coil pickups alot, If I go single coil, I think I'll use a neck pickup for the slide. I do have a hot rails pickup which I purchased in China that has 9k ohms on one side and 4k ohms on the other. I will consider just using 1 single push pot, with no other pots or switches, kinda like the Tom Delonge setup. And also will consider a coil tap along with the push pot.

As we speak, I'm bidding on the Lego wheels and axels for the sliding pickup jig.

I'll be using an Axel and Tire combo, from a used Lego set, this will be able for me to adjust, move, slide the pickup, up and down in the body cavity for different tones.
