There are some nice guys left in the world. I’m not feeling great today so a guy drove an hour to deliver this guitar to me with a really nice road runner hard case. I offered him 200 for both and he said that’s more than he paid so he offered it to me for 150 lol. I gave him another $10 for making the drive. I live a charmed life. I think I’ll take the Squier stamped saddles off the vintage modified 70s strat tremolo and put them on here. I really hate these block looking things.

  3. That's a whole lot of pick guard there.
    Cheers.

HNGD! I really like the necks on the first run 51s, they're a bit bigger than the later ones, at least on the one pair I compared! That guitar has a nicely matched face, better than some including my own.

I wasn't a fan of either the block saddles or the big guard, so I did the reversible Bubba Mod and used a Bullet guard as a template to make a smaller one. I also removed the neck cover so I had matching black pickups.

I didn’t like the big white guard on my 51. burst either,so I made a clear one from polycarbonate .At least you can appreciate the whole finish now.

You can also remove the guard altogether as it’s finished underneath.

HN51D! That's a killer price for a '51 these days. The neck on my blonde '05 is my favorite of nearly any guitar I've played. Nice and thick without too much width. Hope you enjoy it as much as I have for the past 16 years.

I’m curious to know which neck pickup it has. There were three varieties in the original run: ceramic, Alnico, and Alnico with a metal plate on the back. My biggest regret over selling my ‘05 was losing that neck pup.

If it’s an Alnico, and you decide you are not going to keep the pickups, I will absolutely buy the neck pick up from you.

Great chunky (at the nut) neck too!

I got a great deal too. A friend of mine sent a Peavey Reactor to me and paid the shipping no charge. I set it up and put Fender pickups in it, set up the action and played it for a while. The neck on it was fantastic. It sounded and played incredibly so I gave it to a friend who really wanted a Tele so badly.

He told me he loves it so much he plays it 4-5 hours at a time. That makes me wonder how much his wife loves it.

The same friend in NM also sent a brand new Fender American Tele to me a couple of years ago so I sure didn't need the Peavey. He even paid the postage on that Tele.

DAMN- talk about lucking out! I've been trying to find one of these "51's" for months now, ever since I had a customer bring one in for cleaning, fret sprout filing, and setup work. I was impressed enough I wanted one, and every one of em' on eBay or Reverbs ridiculously overpriced! At $150 for the guitar and a decent soft hardshell case you came out smelling like a rose! Not quite the "Stellacaster" I've dreamed of putting together, but still pretty bitchin' in their own right. NICE score!

This is one of my favorite pictures, and your thread reminded me. An original, modified, from about fifteen years ago.
