Comparing the new with the old

    My buddy G got an unbelievable score, real deal 1968 deluxe reverb, the one with the circuit that everybody gets a hard on over. And yes I can see why it sounds pretty freaking incredible, the two are similar definitely because they are the same amp. I think my reissue could get closer to the 68 with a speaker change?
    Anyway I offered some trades but he wants money because he knows these things go for a pretty penny. But at least I got to play through the real deal here so now I know the difference which isn’t huge but it’s enough to say wow, now I think I’m looking for the correct speaker to put in mine. Anybody have any suggestions?

    Those amps have different circuits....blackface vs silverface.....similar but not the same....

    Seems I read somewhere that Fender started making the switch in about 67 on the bigger amps but the smaller one like the Deluxe remained black face for a while longer..

    Yes I believe this is still the black face circuit we just researched it , the tube chart Confirms it
