Malone Schwartz has the tone of his LP neck position HB dialed in so well, who needs the bridge?

Dickey and Duane were also prime examples of great LP neck pickup tone.
I LOVE the way Duane's tone on the few notes from 2:17 to 2:20 in his solo somehow magically take on a thickness and saturated tone that he doesn't have before or after those few seconds. I've always LOVED and been in awe of that part of his solo, and, fortunately, it's still clearly audible here, but is sadly eliminated in many of the digital remasters, which is just one of the many reasons that I hate remasters, and ALWAYS prefer the original mix and master of every album.

I wholeheartedly agree. That being said, in a live situation sometimes the bridge pickup works best to cut through a muddy mix.
Some players, and I'm not among them, can get a very fat and round tone from a bridge pickup, very similar to a neck pickup, but that ability has always eluded me for some reason.

I am like @DougMen not liking just a Bridge PU and I have a big Selection. Only one that passed was a Bootstrap Original Tele. I love all my Guitars in Middle Position (no Strats) and many Neck PU's only! I might make an Esquire with just a Neck PU!
