So my friend saw this tele on FB marketplace and texted me cause the serial number is partially worn off and we’re wondering if this guy is trying to sell a partscaster as a 70’s reissue tele and is asking $500. I thought the additional pickguard piece on the tail looked weird and the neck seems wrong with the logo. What do you guys think?

Here are a few Mex Necks with the Decals in back! Could be a Spec.Ed. like Ace quoted. Decal could just be worn? You can zoom in on Neck Pic.

Looks iffy, also looks great!
The serial no. font iffy
The armrest guard custom/iffy?
The neck looks correct
Wonder what/who's Special Edition?
By what is shown, I would grab it if I it plays well,
before all that I would want fresh/way better photos

Maybe a nice partscaster, but that ain't no Fender.

Purposely vague photos, trying to hide the off-looking Fender headstock logo. Another lame photo of the serial number, which is not the MIM font and IS missing other worded elements.

My spidey senses warn me that the neck is a MIC ebay knockoff, witch sometimes come with shady manufacturer logos and a lone generic serial number (such as wording like "Serial Number" and/or "Made in Mexico").

My opinion, have your friend move on.

That's only half the photos. So you can't really say theyre purposely vague without seeing all 6.

At any rate, it's fake. This is what a real MX19xxxxx serial number looks like.
