Okay, this may be meaningless, but I think it's way cool!

Using the tracking data which tells me what flight my Red Truck package had been assigned to, and loaded upon, I was able to access this (seen here as a static screen shot) live, moving, and in real time.

Is this modern world cool, or what?

Overheard... "Dang it! This compass is screwy! Get out the sextant!"

    Seems to have worked. :D

I've been getting ads on FB for really great deals on gear like a Player Strat for like $200... I think allot of scams are making onto FB. But If you pay with paypal I think you are covered if it's a scam.

    I’m amazed it’s a plane and not a boat ;)

Pretty much all the shipments from China for things like that are by plane. Shipments I get for work that come by ship take around six weeks to get here.

    Yeah. Me too.

Now, from what I understand, tracking will go dead. That because of the turnover to USPS.

Kind'a sad to say, but I've had less "luck" with USPS than with the Chinese postal system. So it's still "let's see." ;)

Six weeks is the usual for guitar hardware (pots, bridges, tuners), I’ll often pay Amazon a few $ extra for the same parts if they warehouse them stateside.

It had sat static on the tracking site for some days. Today it got a new status:

2020-01-13 00:01 San Francisco, reached the place of arrival

I'm hoping that means it is now out of customs and moving into the USPS system.

The vendor's website says that typical total travel time is 15 to 20 days. So far it has been 11 days since it was said to gave been shipped.

    Again, here's too hoping. :)

My guitar whizzed through San Francisco customs in 24 hours. I contacted the seller to get the USPS tracking number. You may want to do the same?? It's almost at your front door. :)

Hope you have better luck than I did on my super deal on a solder station. It got delivered to Ohio for some reason. I have no idea why. I got a refund but I really wanted the solder station more than a refund. The seller would not reply to my messages.

Sounds like a crazy season for online shopping. I bought a lefty neck for $5.98 off of Walmart.com. I doubt it will show up either, but you never can tell. It claims to have a USPS number and a delivery date of 1/21 which is next Tuesday.

I used paypal on my order so I was pretty sure I could get a refund if needed. I had ordered a 2nd one from another place and it's on the way ( supposedly )

    Absolutely critical to the purchase.

I'd NEVER give my private info to some unknown seller. Especially one abroad and out of reach.

PayPal makes such purchases possible. They, using what is available to them, access the risk and then shoulder it.

Another advantage is that the ruse of "you gave us the wrong address" is thwarted. Your shipping address, too, is provided to them by PayPal.

None of this guarantees that the seller isn't bogus and that you'll get what you ordered. Both disappointment and time wastage is possible. But it does remove much of the actual "risk."

    Again, still hopin'. :)
