It is a nice guitar too! I have played one of these in a music store, and it is very nice. I like the ebony fretboard and the scalloped forward X bracing on these. The neck is thin and wide--easy to play.
Actually not to correct your math, Eddie (LOL) ... this is actually the fourth Martin in a span of a few days. There is today's, there is the one you bought and will be getting today (as will I), there is the similar "X" model in the smaller size that started this all and then there was also on Feb. 20 a Martin Special D Ovangkol for $999.99. There is a post over at another forum about all these Martins coming up for sale at MF. There are kind of theories but one is that most of these are discontinued models and so are ripe for these clearance prices.
I have the version with sapele back and sides and a richlite fretboard. It was $1,600 new about 8 years ago. This is a terrific deal.
That is the musicians friend Modus Operandi... It’s what they’ve done with: Cabronita’s, 2019 Robot Gibsons, Squier, and Fender Dimension basses, and almost every VM model ever made (at the end).
The ambertone rosewood version of this one is just Drop dead gorgeous... but it’s still regular price. I’m tempted to call, and see if they’ll give me that deal on the RW...
They must have sold out of the GP. This is the new deal. I can see Eddie trying to decide how he can flip it and how he can hide it from Mrs. Eddie.
Smokes. No can do. That's too rich for my blood. Though, I'd love to try one out just to see what a 3 grand acoustic feels like.
So now we are on Martin #5 from MF ... wow. Btw, I think that was a STOTHour entry or was offered some time ago as a regular STOTD.
Speaking of "too rich for my blood". Imagine this. https://www.musiciansfriend.com/gui...c-1930-vts-brazilian-rosewood-acoustic-guitar
My new HPL Dreadnought Martin is sitting in the living room having a cup of coffee with me. This is difficult because it's still in the shipping carton! (Acclimation is a tough thing.)
