Hi, I just got a VM Jaguar, which I am cleaning and setting up. I noticed it has 2 alpha pot with a A1M ohms writing. I am not an expert but i thought guitar pots were either 250 or 500 K? Can someone explain to a non expert?
Also, would changing them result in any improvement?

Those are the recommended values for a Jaguar. I have been told a lower value pot will make the guitar too bright and ice pick-like.

Thank you. Also, I have now opened also the upper pots and they are B1M ohm and B50K.
Even more confusing to me.
I am just doing some cleaning so for now i will close and leave everything as it is, but I am curious…

B means a linear taper whereas the A is a log taper pot.

Fender Jeff Beck noiseless pickup set I put in a guitar came with 1 Meg pots. Also came with a treble bleed circuit.

500k pots with single coils will make them ice picky but you can dial it back with the tone control.
