I'm wiring the bridge dual rail for a Tele.

There are 4 sets of wires
    - black - ground
    - green - to the switch
    - red/white - tape together and put on the side
    - bare silver - where does this go ???

You mean the shield that's around the other four? It goes to ground with the other ground wire.

In most cases the bare silver wite is a chassis ground for the metal casing of a pickup and it goes to ground. My metal lipsticks had a bare silver that was a case ground. Can you google the manufacturers info sheet for those? It would tell you for sure bur my money is on ground.

Yeah, more than likely it’s ground. What brand of pickup is it?

    Guitarmadness.

I grounded it along with the black wire.

    Thank you. :)

Thank you guys. Much appreciated. If you were My Little Ponies ... you'd all have earned your cutie marks. :)

Here's the latest project. I must have deleted the original photos. But GM Cool Cat single in the neck and GM Hot Rails in the neck. My only complaint is that I had a spare RRG harness that I wanted to use. But the stock plate wouldn't fit the harness so I had to re-use the stock harness.

Still sounds wicked. It's got a nice bite to it. I love heavy metal Tele's.

I had a bunch of projects sitting around. Had a really bad toothache last week which turned into an infection and a fever. It's nice to have some time to sit around and make something nice ... a little better.

Once I bought a bunch of those cheap Rail pickups off eBay when they were stupid cheap, like $1.21 each. I got 20! When they showed up, only 4 or 5 of them had the same wire colors in them! (Like, of the 4 wires coming out, each pup had different colors than the next pup, causing lots of head scratching) Of the lot, 3 of them were DOA (internal shorts) and most of the rest were different outputs... I picked out 3 matching ones for an SE build, stuck a couple others in a Tele, and eventually traded or sold the rest. I got Guitar Madness ones a couple years later, and they were very different-better built and better sounding!

That looks great Eddie. A couple of nice guitars you’ve put together recently. I like the idea of the rails in the Tele. Bet it sounds pretty cool.

Taken directly from your recommendation. :)

It's awesome. Got some twang. Got some dirt. I love it.

I did the same thing about 2 years ago. Picked up a few cheapo Rail pups for about $6 each. I couldn't even get them to fit in the pickguard.

The GM Rails are really nice. Not cheap. Not expensive. But sounds very good for the amount of money charged. :)

Hey @Eddie, looking good - you are not helping me with the current bout of Tele GAS I have, I keep looking around at Butterscotch teles! ;)
Love that pickguard, maybe it's not everyone's 'cup of tea', but I really like the pearloid look ... would you call that 'gold pearloid'??!
    Cheers, rorygman

    PS Get well soon, OK?
