I once played a battle of the bands against a group of 11 and 12 year olds that plays circles around that band. I almost feel bad for them just watching it.

At least a couple people clapped at the end.

They really, truly meant well! I'm fairly sure it was a last minute thing and I don't believe they'd ever even practiced together :(

Battle of the Bands..... yes, I remember those being popular in the late 60s to mid 70s. There were many bar fights then, too. We could bring back the sport of jousting...... but instead of lances the weapons of choice would be 80s hair metal guitars with pointy head stocks... No?

I'd say that maybe the band was indulging in the thing the song is about but then it would be way too fast and not way too slow.

They totally nailed the "the batteries in my Walkman are almost dead" sound lol.

Yes they showed up I suppose but me thinks that is one of those situations when gracefully declining the offer would have been a better choice.

I remember getting so drunk before one gig that I couldn't even see my strings. I don't think I played very well that night.

(I don't mean see them on the fretboard, I mean see them to hit them with a pick)

So we might be going back to jousting? I had just one experience many years ago where I indulged on a break during a gig. Within minutes I lost the ability to play what I already knew how to play! Call me a lightweight if you will, I'll take it as a compliment. But that was the one and only time I needed to make that mistake.
