So I have too many projects, and too many guitars, and NO $. But I had some time to kill before a meeting at work, so I checked out the GC by me. They had THIS: C356DAA4-1360-4DCB-A95E-F7D70210C5FD.jpeg E61E8ACE-ED9E-4028-9B12-BD3E5352D4C3.jpeg 4508DA9F-BCD2-43BC-8EA9-07980E0C46A1.jpeg A beautiful, dark stained P90 Tele Thinline. Now I have two good, finished, playable Teles, and two project Teles (one is a Thinline”, even) Oh, and my daughter’s Tele that I dig playing. But I don’t have a P90 Thinline... and this one is SO pretty... ugh!
Oh yeah, it’s at the Roseville, MN GC. It’s a MIC Fender branded one, and it was $300-some bucks... somebody go get it before I do something stupid!

Unless your children are starving, or bringing this home will lead you to mental or emotional harm, I cannot advise you, with a clear conscience, to leave the store without it. I'm sorry if that's not what you want...

You can always bring it back if the eviction notice shows up within the time allotted by GC's generous return policy

...but isn't that why we go to the guitar store? I'm so confused.

(Side note: This is why I gave up project guitars. I'd rather put the money and time directly into playing guitar. I still do setups and maintenance, but heavy projects, not a fan anymore.)

You came to the wrong place OP, you need to post this thread on gearsnob.com to be properly ridiculed into not buying that Chinese Tele.

I wonder if I have enough stuff I could part with to trade in for that...

I asked a sales dOOd about that, but since everything I have is basically a parts-caster, I’d have to give them, like, 3 of my guitars for that one...

And am I out of line for seeing “Made in China” on it, and thinking “this should be a Squier” ?

There's no way I can do it right now, and I already have a semi-hollow P90 guitar, but it's a fun thought to entertain. It's not exactly a smokin' deal, imo, but they don't come up often. Some other deals I've seen around here today...coming in separate comment.

It’s fun to look, but I had to enact a “stay outta the guitar store” rule, cause I was falling in love with something every time I went.!

I have this thing, it was my #1 for a while and I spent a lot of money getting it in good condition, but I haven’t played it in a long time. I kinda want to see what they’d say about it. But GC is pretty much the worst place to trade gear in, so I’m guessing they’d offer me like $99 for it. :(

I love that Gretsch! Idk if I could sacrifice it towards the Tele.

I picked up my Squier Cabronita off of CL for $250. Came with upgraded Graph Tech string saver saddles, upgraded pickguard, fresh restrung NYXL 10-46 + two extra sets of those same strings, a D'Addario clip on tuner NIB, and an extremely nice Hercules guitar stand. The guitar also had a pro setup with a neck shim and low action. I couldn't pass it up, and when I called on a Tuesday the chick who sold it to me said there was a cat coming on Friday if it was still available. I couldn't pass it up. I needed the stand too.

CL is my favorite for screaming deals on gear. I got my Antigua Tele for $225 back in Berkeley from some college kid who probably needed beer money.

well, it looks like it’s gonna rain all day again, and I do have to go get some lumber for a project at home, so I will be out... Hmmm, the wheels are turnin’!

Not at all. Wouldn't be surprised if the Chinese factory that was making really high quality Squier Classic Vibes are now making the MIC Fenders.

It's one of the things that convinced me I should buy a Chinese CV before it was too late. They're just really well made guitars.
