I can get this for maybe $20-$30 locally. I think it's a Bullet. I feel strangely compelled to rescue it and bring back to life. It would take untold hours, days, weeks maybe months. Is it a mental problem? I have enough guitars. I don't need to take on the extra burden. But it's like it's calling to me "rescue me"...

I had one similar.... about 7 years ago..a strat with over spray with a can, abused. I found it in the trash. I sold it to a guy who wanted to rescue it for $25.

It's related to GAS. If you aren't Gassing for another guitar you can still be compelled to try and rescue one that looks unloved.

The only part of the OP's post that confuses me is where he says "I have enough guitars." I don't understand.

when you see one all decked out you think, wow, that's really nice. But, when you see one like this you feel bad and see what it could be. Your innate guitar nurturing instincts take over and you just want to grab it and help it to become what it should be.

    do not deny your instincts.

You could just strip it and play it natural finished, maybe with some gun stock oil.

She looks like she could be on one of those late-night adds - your donation can help neglected and abused guitars like this one find a loving home!

Looks like nothing a can of lacquer thinner couldn't solve. Might be pink under that paint...:)

You must be really bored and looking to spend money to consider that one.

Bored yes, money well that's another story. Besides just wanting to rescue the poor thing I kind of like a challenge. I'm just not sure if I'm up to it physically. I have a flawless Affinity Strat that I can't play, so if I can flip it, I might accept the challenge. I don't think that guitar is going anywhere fast. I'll know in the next few weeks. I have to spend a few days in the hospital. I'll see what happens after that.
