Hey all. Just ordered a set of the GFS Mean 90’s. Got 2 guitars I’m thinking about putting them in. First is my beat up Epiphone G400, 2nd is my Epiphone Fierbird studio. Pics to follow.

The Firebird has the Steinberger tuners which I love. But, I don’t know if it will get much play time. The SG just has mojo. If I do the SG, I’ll put the Steinberger tuners on it.

    So.......what do y’all think????

If those pickups are a version of P90s, I would go with the Firebird. Those pickups might be too bright for the SG. Not that that's bad, I have that setup, but it's not for everybody.

idk.. I see a lot more G-400s compared to firebirds. Are these drop in replacements?

I've got a single Mean 90 in my Epi SG Junior and love it- not quite the same as the set neck 400 but shouldn't be too far off-

Adapter rings and mini-buckers for the Firebird........

    Yes they are.

Thought about this too. Not a big fan of the mini buckers tho.

The mojo is in the look, not the sound on this one

Drop in? DO IT! Allen Collins always put a P-90 in the bridge position of his Firebirds.
