recently traded my modern player mustang for a cab and some pedals. as a replacement i bought this guy at a pawn shop for $100. model #0280302506, S/N #CY9807xxxx. neck is some kind of oil finish. cant seem to dig up much info other than it probably being made in 98. im fairly certain its not an affinity. anyone got any info? 71541797_647955209362890_272356396069027840_n.jpg Screen Shot 2019-10-12 at 7.55.05 PM.png

I have to assume it’s a Standard from 1998. Maybe a GC (Guitar Center) exclusive? I don’t know much, sorry I can’t tell you more, but $100 for a Standard is a good deal. Lots of love for black and maple around here too.

CY98 should be an early Affinity or Standard made by Yako in China in 1998......

The info on fender's database doesn't include 1990's stuff......

    Got bigger higher resolution photos?

also worth noting: ive never been a strat guy. the tremolo on strats has never worked for the music i make, But the second i played this i fell in love with it. very comfy neck, Grover tuners and an incredible tremolo that i can only describe as.... buttery. i dont miss my mustang one bit anymore.

The only difference is most likely that this one is properly setup for tremolo use, and the others you've tried weren't.....

Yep, it's an early Standard - with upgraded Grover tuners by the looks of them....
