Trying to learn as much as I can about Squiers. I would like to be able to tell as much as I can by just looking at the pics. Jeez most of the ones for sale around here (60 mi radius or so) are misrepresented, or listed as vintage when there only 5 yrs old or so. Anyways, what model of squire only has Squier "Strat" on head stock?

More than one model has only SQUIER STRAT on the headstock....can't generalize....

This is one an NC serial number made in China, probably NC4 or NC5 - mid 1990's

This an NC or a YN.

NC, YN, CD, and the SE models say Squier Strat.

Nothing wrong with the shortened term.

Many people associate the term Strat as bad and the term Stratocaster as good. But this is not the case.

Oh yea, what clued you in that this was a mid 90's NC or YN? Was it the 22 frets, and 8 hole pick guard?

the larger STRAT writing on headstock (bigger than on any other guitar that says SQUIER STRAT), the fact that the FENDER logo is on the ball of the headstock......and 22 frets and 12th fret dot spacing as well as bridge saddle type and pickguard type, as well as lack of truss rod hole surround/sleeve.

This makes me believe that it's an NC6.

NC4 had "Bullet Series" on the ball of the headstock.
NC7 had "Affinity" on the ball of the headstock.

    No NC5.

  11. I never see these for sale around here … one day.

There's a white one about an hour away from me on CL asking for $100. It's been up for ages. I emailed the guy that if he's ever in NYC, I'd meet in any of the boroughs (sans Staten Island). Tolls and gas to get to the guitar would cost another $40.

This one is an hour away, everything is an hour away from here. I offered a $100, $110 if we meet half way, $120 if we meet in my town. Its nuts around here nothing is selling these people are asking way too much for there squiers, they adv starcasters as fenders and asking $2oo, bullets and affinity's $150 and up when they sell for $129. All adv "These sell for $200-$400, I know what I have". A lot of mom's and dad's selling cause the kids have no interest.

If it's a white NC, then $100-120 is about the right price. Even donated ones on SGW are going for that much, and you gotta add an additional $20-40 for shipping.

Even the black ones are going for $75+ with shipping.

It's totally worth it. I have three white NC's and they cost in excess of $100 + shipping.

Most of the above posts are on the money or close. I'd do many things to get another white. Given the layout of this guitar it is an NC6, Fender 50th Anniversary Standard or Traditional. That is the only NC with Fender on the ball of the headstock. You can't see it in these pictures, but it will also have 'Made in China' underneath the Squier on the front of the headstock. Again, it's the only NC so designated. Although sometimes removed, it should have Fender 50th Anniversary gold foil sticker on the back of the headstock.

Man you're not on the road already?

Mine says Squier Strat and it is made in Indonesia in 2017 (Thankfully it has rosewood) unfortunately Fender says no more rosewood.
