I've been thinking about getting a Wayne's World strat if I could find one for the right price.

I know that there are two versions and the Squier version is a MIJ and I believe the Fender version is a MIM. I found a lot of info on the Squier version, but couldn't find much about the Fender version.

So my question is is there a big difference in quality between the two? Or are these basically the same guitar?

Houseguitarshop seems to be the prevailing expert so I will defer to him. The thing that impresses me is that the MIJ uses a vintage fretboard radius of 7.25". That makes it a pretty rare Squier in my book. I actually just saw one show up on ebay for $150 BIN last night. Shipping is $50 and it looks like the headstock may have been sanded but it looks like a pretty good price. Wayne's World Ebay Strat $150

Yea, I'd think that's a nice project guitar.

I thought about picking it up. It looks like it has been modded but it would make a great platform for a reissue project. If I did it, I would sand the rest of the headstock, paint it white, slap a '64 period correct waterslide on the headstock, maybe replace the tuners with Klusons, and put some vintage style pups in with Fender pots and wiring.

To bad he raised the shipping. I would be tempted. But I would like one in a little better shape.

So on my original question, no one knows the difference between the MIJ Squier & the MIM Fender Wayne's World Strat?

Well someone bought it. I'm not surprised that price was way too good to pass.

In WW news, I got mine tonight. Spent about an hour and a half giving it the treatment. I love the feel of the neck. It was caked in almost twenty years of filth but once I got through the grime, there was a pretty guitar underneath. Completely original and untouched. This one could easily become a favorite of mine.

Thanks for the specs. From looking at them, they appear to be almost identical other than the body wood & fretboard Radius. Guess either one would be good.

Until this one, I've never had a strat with a vintage radius. Honestly, if it were me, I would go for the MIJ because of the vintage radius. It's a different feel that makes it worth it. I wish they would make more Squiers with a vintage radius option. I really like the sound of the ceramics as well. They are very mellow.
