I'm also getting a Fender Rumble 40 from the same shop. Can't wait.
I picked up one of these used, cleaned it up, and put some flatwounds on it. Tons of fun
From what I've been reading, flatwounds are the way to go on a short scale. I'm having fun already and I don't even have the bass yet. Been working on bass lines on a Strat all week.
I have the fender jaguar bass SS. Its great. But I play guitar and only fiddle on the bass. Although I know a lot of people that want to build that pinky power on a regular neck.
Just remember that any 30" scale bass won't have a great sounding open E string, 'cause it really takes a 34" scale for that note to really ring true.
Can someone please measure their Jag SS and give me the overall length? I'm going to pick mine up this PM and want to know if it will fit in one of my guitar gig bags.
I'm ready to RUMBLE!
I want one! Same exact set-up....... I want to learn "Use Me" by Bill Withers and going way back "In-a-gota-de-Vida" (excuse the spellin!) Like guitar there are so many songs I want to almost be able to play!
"Use Me" sounds like fun. While I was waiting for the bass to arrive I worked out parts of Brown Eyed Girl, Stand By Me, Sundown and a couple of others.
I play guitar almost exclusively sitting down and the Squire fits nicely in my lap.
Congrats..I've been waiting and watching for the good news..
Like grandpa said when he got his toenails caught in the bed sheet,
"Let 'er rip"..
I intend to to Papa, with apologies in advance to my wife.
Congrats! Seriously, you have put together the ultimate $400 (new) bass rig! Your component choices are superb. You now have a rig that is worthy enough to gig ANY size of venue, as standalone for practice or intimate gigs, or with DI (and mic'd) through the PA system. Very well done!
Yeah, for $400 it seems like a good set-up for me.I rarely buy new gear but had decided what I wanted and didn't want to look for used. I had a little extra cash from selling some things and doing some repair work for others.
No gigging for me though. I'm just a basement wanker that has a blast trying.
Great choice there. I have the exact same set up for my loft recording and playing area. Enjoy.
You're welcome. The Fender Urban Short scale gig bag fits well. And happy NB&AD. Wisely and tastefully chosen.
