Went to a buddies house today to check out a guitar he had with some alumitone pickups in it and wasn't really feeling them. They're like a bright humbucker and wasn't quite what I was wanting but he's always got a ton of stuff so he broke this bad boy out and that hit the spot. It's a DRIVE WILDFIRE X3. I've tried to look them up a little but not much info. What I can tell you besides the obvious is that it's nice and light and very well built. Nice set neck and the binding is wonderful to boot. The top is a 1 piece cap thats just gorgeous as you can see. It feels very small in your hands almost like a 3/4 size but its not. It's 24.75 inch scale and some locking tuners. The pickups i have no idea what are but they sound pretty good. 20171206_170751.jpg 20171206_170801.jpg 20171206_170902.jpg 20171206_170847.jpg 20171206_170853.jpg 20171206_170751.jpg 20171206_170801.jpg 20171206_170902.jpg

I've seen those pop up for sale every now and then. They seem pretty cool. Aren't they some sort of composite body or something? Maybe I'm remembering that wrong.

    Anyways, did you buy it?

The Switch vibracell guitars from the early 2000's were one piece molded bodies and necks, and some of the models had the same shape as the Drive guitar.

From the look of it it's not some composite. It's solid wood. I'll get some pics with the cover off.

Cool SquierTony! Can I join the club with mine? I also have the bolt-on neck version with string through. I got the set neck one at a yard sale for $40 since it has cracks around the neck joint, which you can see in the 3rd pic. But it plays fine and as you say, the pickups are good. The body is small, note how close the stop bar is to the back strap button.

The black one is the bolt on, about $55 delivered on ShopGoodwill. It is in new condition, but the quality is a lot less substantial than the set neck model. It will eventually get a metallic bronze or gold paint job that suits its modern shape, and a pair of better pickups.
