And I refuse to hear any argument to this fact..
I will second this but Faith Hill is in the Top Ten too
You won't get an argument from me Papa Joe. She's 'bout one of the nicest women around.
Faith Hill, Shania Twain get my votes....
100% agreed. She can sing it all too...
Yepper..Very good choices no doubt..
First time I ever even heard of Shania was when I heard her on the radio..It was instant love..Then when I saw her, oh WOW..
The best thing is when a beautiful woman ages gracefully and naturally, and remain just as beautiful as their youth. Emmylou certainly fits that bill.
Yes Sir, That, and she does traditional country music..The others, who are also great singers and beautiful girls, are more in to the more modern country music..
I think that's why I rate her at the top..
No argument there - she was never the cookie cutter girl country star. All anybody has to do is look at the long roster of top players over the decades who were part of her music and the way the songs and her delivery was respected... her voice was the instrument out front with the story.
I still have a couple of her LPs.... now I have to see which ones.... even her ability and style with traditional country was not where a lot of singers could go and get the same feel. Thanks for this reminder!
And she actually SINGS instead of whatever that nasally whine twang thing that 99% of so called "country artists" (male and female) do today. I don't listen to country music but at work they have Sirius over the plant wide sound system and every Wednesday it's set on a channel called "The Highway" which is modern country and it is SOOOOOO BAD. It's embarrassingly bad and to be honest I don't see how people can even stand it.
Emmylou is a true original. I am not a fan of most of the stuff that's come out of Nashville over the past few decades.
Well, what do you know . . . I saw the title of the thread and as I clicked it, my first thought was "Is it about Emmylou Harris?" And it is.
Yep and Shania is 2nd.
She still is. 72 and still gigging.
I hate to disagree, but my heart belongs to another...
If was stuck on a desert island Wrecking Ball is one of the albums I would want with me. Got to see her and Lanois do it live on the anniversary tour a few years ago. Crazy good..
I can understand why..That song and her performance was as good as it gets..And she sure was easy on the eyes..
A forgotten lady.
We can't over look this beautiful lady..Her music was a little more toward the pop side but she was country at heart.
