NGD! Had to try a Hawk SE for $80. I don't know how Kurt does it, and with a real nice gig bag included it's really more like a $70 guitar. It's beautifully made, if a bit harsh sounding.

I'm new here, but I remember some of you guys from the Squier division of Strat-Talk from last year. Don't know how much discussion there's been about the Hawk SE, but I'm amazed and impressed.

For better or worse, I have to report that, like all the Bullet Strats I've seen, the blue is much more like Surf Green (Hey Pesky!), but it's a beautiful paint job, and with the glossy maple neck and cream knobs it looks just like an American Vintage '57. Should be an excellent unit to mod.

Congrats! I have an SX/Rondo P-bass and an SX STL-50 (Telecaster copy before they became the "Furian" model.)

I am real;ly happy with both. LOVE the necks on these things.

I am planning some upgrades for the Tele, but from what I hear a lot of replacement parts aren't a drop-in fit. Not sure about the Strats though. We need pics!

HNGD! But lets see some pics! :)

I'm glad to hear some feedback about the SX Hawks from an owner. I've been curious.

Has any one upgraded the pickups on a Hawk? Is the sound greatly improved?

just put d. allen pups in my hawk. HUUUUGGGEEEE IMPROVEMENT! although i was really caught off guard, i wanted to use the cream pup covers off the hawk, but the single coils are waxed INTO the covers!! never seen anything like it. i tried to melt the wax out, but ended up scorching the plastic, so i tossed the whole set up. ended up aging some solid white plastic parts i had and dropped em in the hawk. big big BIG difference!!

Anyone know if a standard Squier neck fits these bad boys?

man, that Hawk is gorgeous!!! (Except for the damn headstock. I hate the new SX headstocks. Why the hell did they change them. They used to be cool, and much more Fender-y).

hmmm.... i was looking at this one last night. the new headstock sucks, yes, but as much as i like my sx tele (old headstock, reshaped), i might be able to live with this one for a while

I preferred the older SX headstock, too. Maybe they got a letter from Fender's lawyers? Last time I looked, the only old type headstock strats Rondo had left in stock was in their EG-1K strat-pak, $115 with a little amp, but not a maple neck.

that's a definite no. i didn't try replacing the neck, but i tried putting a 3 ply squier pg on it. the neck cut out on the squier pg was too narrow. hawk necks are BEEFY.
