I have always wanted a LP style guitar. Not a studio or plank style. The carved top standard type. I will never have LP money to spend on one but was looking at Rondo at the Agiles and noticed the SX Calistos at sub @Eddie budget prices. Where do those fall in thw quality tree? At that price I would assume upgrades are warranted but how are the bones? Good necks? Heavy? Light?

I have never had one in my hands, but I used to hang out at the Agile forum a while back, and the guys there seemed to like these a lot. I have often thought about buying one myself. I do own an Agile, and it is a wonderful guitar.

I've only read positive comments on those. One good sign, is that you rarely see a used one for sale.

I like that they have a maple neck, more stable in extreme climate variations. Some even have a Canadian maple carved top, eh !

How can you go wrong at $129 (on sale now) for THIS ?

Wow! Do you have a link to that? I don't see it on their website anywhere.

They are tempting. This one is $221 delivered to my door. Hmm...

I can't deal with a clownburst myself. You'd give me one for free, I'd strip it and if it didn't do it, I'd paint it. But that's me.

    Great deal nevertheless.

What I would like to know, is their neck profile. Slim of fat ?

Seems to be available again! Great looking guitar, I would get one if shipping wouldn't kill the deal for me. Sadly, that's not a brand I can find locally, so I guess I'll have to wait for a good Epi.

I noticed shipping is waaaaaay lower on their reverb store for some reason. Says "+$16 shipping" there.

I had a SX bass from Rondo a while back, and it was every bit as good as any Squier I've played, save for the electronics. They are well regarded. You might even be able to find a deal on a used one. Also, people like the Oscar Schmidt copies too, generally, and they are around $200 shipped, IIRC.

Never personally known anyone with a Calisto, but I've got an SX tele that I'm very satisfied, an SX p-bass that's been great, and an SX jazz 5 that I'll love to the end of my days.

Yeah, it's $16 for continental USA, but I would need to add the proxy mail service costs.
