So I needed another strap -- a solid black one-- for the Supro Black Holiday. I prefer leather but as this guitar is so light I wasn't looking to spend the big bucks that a good all-leather strap generally go for.

Checked out several of the on-line music emporiums. Some fair deals, but none that struck me.

Then I went to Amazon and did a search n their musical instruments section. "Black leather guitar strap" And along with the $40 to $80 dollar Levy Leathers and such, found this...

$3.99? It was surely gonna be crap. But what the heck. I gave it a try.

Took a couple of weeks t get here on the proverbial "slow boat from China," but finally it arrived.

    And it was this...

    Fender Diamond Anniversary Strap.jpg

    Yup. The real thing.

Okay, Fender's "Diamond Anniversary" was back in 2006 so I suppose its a 12 year old strap, but brand new. And the leather is fine and subtle.

Yup. A true and unexpected bargain.

And now it is advertised as being just that. With pix.

Get 'em while they're hot, guys!

(I just ordered a couple more)

Thanks for the heads up, just ordered three. Might not receive them till January, but looks like they are well worth the wait.

I bought a few of these on EBay last year. Of course, they've counterfeit. The sellers are careful not to reveal that though.

    May be. Or maybe not.

Were Fender's own made in China?

If not then yes, these are counterfeit. But if they were than these could well be either left overs from then, or the maker could simply still be running the 'assembly line' making and selling just what Fender had him make.

In any case the quality is real enough. Lovely leather. Nicely stitched.

And I will keep saying that until the thing snaps in two and my guitar land on the floor at my feet. ;)

Thanks for sharing Don, that's an absolute bargain!
I just tried via various Amazon sites: Amazon.com won't ship it to Spain. Not even with a shipping charge.:( Amazon.co.uk and Amazon.es don't even show it. Oh well.
It's a nice looking strap, I do prefer leather straps to the fabric ones.

I'm not complaining about the quality. The 3 (2 black, 1 brown) I bought were pretty decent compared to some other leather (often faux leather) straps I've bought from Chinese sellers. I don't know why they have to stamp them with the logo, they're good enough without it.

    Here's my brown one.

I have a bunch of these. It's primarily all I use. Most are black with a few light tan ones. I've learned what is necessary to keep them. When new, heavily saddle soap them. I did this and most of them still look great. I got lazy on some subsequent orders and those start falling apart.

I should mention that I've had a couple of guitars that actually sounded better after they were dropped once, or twice. Sometimes it takes a few bounces to get the tone just right.

I second jefffam's saddle-soap trick...I have used Mink Oil for this, mainly on leather jackets, and it really helps.....

Yeah...I needed a little pick me up, so thanks again, Don!!!!....willhowl
