Actually, not very stupid at all.

My anniversary gift, which was the featured MF Stupid Deal of the Day earlier this week. She loves me. She wanted and received an Apple watch.

This is my first G&L. These are pretty nice guitars. Just like a Tele, but not really. I had read complaints about the frets and such in the online reviews. It's true. It felt like holding a chainsaw.

The neck had a "sawdusty" feel like a Squier Bullet. All this was fixed with a quick rub down with super fine sandpaper and 0000 steel wool, followed by a generous dollop of Dunlop 65 cream of carnuba.

The ash body is quite a bruiser. I didn't put it on a scale, but it is noticeably heavier than my other guitars.

As far as interchanging parts with a Tele, I don't think you can. The pickguards aren't even close to fitting each other, but I guess electronics will match up fine.

This model (ASAT Classic Tribute) has AlNiCo pickups and they're not bad. The pots are full-size 250K, but are no-name. The switch is a typical import 3-way. They all work fine.

Six individual brass saddles and the strings through to the backside.

A no-brainer at the Stupid Deal price, but you might want to sleep on it for regular price.

    Thanks for reading!

I think a lot of G&L have always been heavy. Nice looking guitar! Congratulations!

HNGD! What a great Anniversary present? Congratulations on your Anniversary, too.

Remember G&L was Leo's last company. (George & Leo, G&L). It is probably most reflective of his evolved vision of his famous guitars. The look a lot alike but they are different. I remember looking at & wishing for one in the late 70's. At the great local music store, you could play the G&L head to head with a Fender. I don't remember all the details, but do remember I preferred the G & L. (I liked the Gretsch Country Gentleman the best if all, but even back then, that was really, really dreaming. LOL )

Enjoy that beautiful guitar. Guitars as Anniversary presents are great.

Very nice, Happy anniversary. G&L's don't get the respect they deserve. I had the same guitar and traded it. I think I need to find another one.

Congrats. I played on in the store. I agree on the weight and fret ends. I didn't plug it in, but everything else about it was appealing.

Yes. She's a keeper. 27 years (20 of those I was in the military). I haven't always made it easy, but I'm getting better.
