    Hey everyone,
So i love my J5 tele! Been thinking of getting another one or maybe switching it up and maybe a Jim Root tele, but swapping the pickups for some good passives. Anyone here have any experience with the Jim Root? Pros, Cons, etc? I played one a ways back at a local store in town and i remeber liking the feel of the Squier better than the MIM one that is like $1000. Could've been the setup on the Squier...IDK, but i'm just curious if anyone here has one and what they think of it. Thanks everyone!

Squier JR Tele has passive hbs. Don't have one but like the concepts behind all his Fender/Squier sigs.

My twin sons each have a JR Tele. They're sweet. Factory pups are not bad at all.
The quality of the build is really good.

I have had mine since last year. It has become my absolute favorite.
It has passive pickups already that are just fine in my book. I suggest try them for awhile before deciding on swapping.

If something were to happen to mine I'd buy another in a sec to replace it. Great guitar imo.

Cool! I'm just at the point now where i don't do EMGs anymore. To me i don't think there is a reason to buy the MIM one since i would replace the EMGs anyways.

Yeah. The pickups may not suit you, but they're not bad. I'm not so much
a Tele purist, but I do prefer the traditional Tele. With that being said, the
belly cutaway and the modified neck heel on the Root is a really nice feature.

This is the reason I went with the squier version also. I just don't care for the active emg's that are in the MIM version.

I have the white one, the satin matte finish is starting to wear now and really feels like MY guitar. No thick poly anywhere on it.

Post pics when you get it, we love pic's here :D

Mahogany body, set neck, jumbo frets, carved top.
They show up on reverb and eBay from time to time. Sometimes listed incorrectly as showmaster. Just an idea. . Good luck with getting the one ya like best!

This one, the Adkins and the Jon 5 keep tempting me.

Just got the Jim Root tele yesterday!!! THIS THING IS A BEAST!!! Mine weighs in a just a hair shy of 10 lbs!!! I love heavy teles!
I haven't had a lot of time to spend with it as i have been practicing my songs for playing at church tomorrow.

Here is a very rough/short clip i put wrote and recorded this morning using the JR tele. Rhythm was using the stock bridge pickup and Leads were using the stock neck pickup. Hope you guys dig it!

Just gave it a listen. Great sounding guitar! And, your playing suited it well! I was a little disappointed when the clip ended.
