We all know that Squiers are just guitars for kids & beginners . Right ? o_Oo_Oo_O

    But ..

Did you know that Squiers are built just good enough , to last long enough for you to learn how to play ?:eek::eek:

After that you get rid of them and get a real guitar :confused::confused:

    A Fender !

A pawn shop owner actually informed me of this today , so I thought I'd let y'all know :rolleyes::rolleyes:

I've visited more than a few pawn shops, but never had any reason to believe a single thing any of them told me.

Hm... Somebody at Squier forgot to tell that to my 90ies ProTone, so it does not work as intended (it still works flawless and plays great). Then again, I never since really stopped learning to play, so I had no need for a Fender (no offense meant to Fender guitars or their players, just dancing with the funny logic in that...). So in a sense, they are right... :D

  8. I very rarely go into a local pawn shop. When I have, I'm schoolin' those guys on some of the things they have.
I never buy any of their over priced guitars. I'm sure they have a chuckle at the "know it all" after I leave.

    Cheers, Barrie.

Is it true that some Fender Pawnshop Series strats came with training wheels that spontaneously remove themselves when the student becomes the Master?

Thanks @fattboyzz. That's good info to have. I bought my Squier in 1984. When I learn how to play, I'll buy a real guitar from that pawn shop. :):)

Same thing the salesguys at GC tell us. According to them,

"Squiers are good for beginners, but they'll actually hold your kid back due to frustration with the beginner quality. So instead, you should buy this $650 Fender Stratocaster. This way, the guitar will grow as your child grows. Your child won't be held back."

Then again, if you stop over on other guitar forums, you'll hear the same thing.

I'm astounded when I read people write, "The Squier Classic Vibe is an ok guitar, but you're going to need to upgrade the pickups." WTH ???

There are two other guitar players at my school ... a SPED teacher and an assistant principal. When I tell them I picked up a new Squier, their reply is, "Oh Squier."

It's like Rodney Dangerfield ... no respect.

As I always say, never start the dickering at more than 1/2 of the sticker price in a pawn shop. (less than 1/2 is OK)

To be fair though, the pawn shop guy and sales people at other stores are just mouthing the Fender script. They're not in the business of selling you a guitar to learn on and then mod with parts from eBay and AliBaba. They're there to sell you a guitar and later sell you another, more expensive, guitar.
