DAMN !! Sad news. :(
I was more of an Elliot Easton fan than a Cars fan, though I dug some of their songs. I saw The Cars once back in the '80's, at the Omni in Atlanta, for what i believe was their final tour. We just went on a last-minute whim, (jumped in the backseat of some friends headed up) but it was a solid performance.

Well, it's always in 3's, so who'll be the third?

He was a master at crafting those rock pop 80s classics that’s for sure.

Wow. Man, that sucks. I used to listen to the album The Cars all the time. Candy-O has some good ones as well. Couldn't leave the record store without a good gander at the cover of that one!;)

Their first album is a bona fide masterpiece. Candy O is pretty great too.

They had an album out a couple years ago, they still sounded good.

I loved The Cars and still have most of their albums in vinyl. Terrible shame about Ben Orr and now Ric. What a great and influential band. I got to see them at the Hampton (Va) Coliseum back in the day.

A master of crossing genres and getting the most out of all of them. Cars fans were pop fans, new wave fans, and classic rock fans. Thats pretty rarefied air. Sounds like he passed of natural causes. He will be missed.

    Damn, that’s terrible.
    What a great, great songwriter.
I saw him a few times in the street, a few years ago, he must have lived near my job.
