This is the second one I've done. Several bugs I need to work out but I'm a noob.:) 2,400 sticks, half a gallon of Wood glue, and some pretty interest language.... IMG_0244.JPG IMG_0245.JPG

Thanks guys. @Papa Joe no it bought the neck finished it and did a fret job on it. The sticks are a white birch which is a soft flexible hardwood but no way would I trust all those glue joints. There is a layer of ash in the guitar body so no worries there.

Neat!! You have quite a level of determination it would seem to endeavor on that type of build and it looks good. Any finish on it such as a lacquer? If not, could you stain it?

Thanks Bluzy, I sprayed it with 12 Coats of poly, 6 coats Meguiars rubbing compound, 6 coats Meguiars Swirl Remover, 6 coats Fender Guitar polish. Tons of elbow grease. I miss calculated though, there is a layer of ash in the middle so there is only 1,600 sticks. I have a long way to go on building guitars but I'm having a lot of fun building them. The only reason I build these is I was offered a challenge in another forum so I had to try it.

Have you seen the build on YouTube of a strat using colored pencils? Came across my feed this morning and is neat like this

    Awesome again!

Questions: 1. What pups? B. Is there any routing challenges compared to "normal" woodworking? Thanks.

They are GuitarFetish Dream 90s and I really like them. The routing was pretty simple and as far as other guitars, this is only my second one. My Tele is the first one I build and I put in SD Quarter Pound. The pups that are in the picture are not the SDs. They are just a cheap set I took out of my grand daughters guitar until the SDs came in.

I Bet you could stain the sticks before glueing them buy droping the stick in to a stain and takeing them out right away you might even be able to use food coloring. Did you get Brain Freeze eating all those popcicles

I buy boxes that have 1000 sticks in them. I would have to stain it after it was built and all the sanding was complete. If that's what I wanted mind you. I like the natural look. Behind the guitar you can see a small few of the models I build out of sticks also.

  18. I'm wasting my time cutting raw lumber and waiting for it to season to build a body ;)
    Cheers, Barrie
