I'm interested in playing some three humbucker guitars. I don't know how they sound.

I think that guitar has too many switches for my taste.

The Liger is what I referred to for many many years as
    The "Jerry Garcia" guitar.

I had always assumed it was a custom built one-off
You can see him clearly playing one here:

PHRED seems to be re-creating 2 of Jerry's Oddball Axes.
WOLFE and LIGER are direct knock-offs of Jerry's guitars.

Here Jerry is playing a 1978 Ibanez Musician that he had customized.
It's the Model that PHRED is calling WOLFE

Interesting things about Jerry's guitars was that because AMPs did not have Effects loops built into them at that time, He had the Loop Built into his guitar as well as a Pre-Amp Booster for Solo'ing.

For a Burnout hippie he sure was ahead of his time with his gear.

I'm confused! So you're saying that the Liger by PHRED is what Jerry Garcia used and not a copy? Very Cooooooool! I'm really digging the Liger either way. I was thinking of buying one, but when I really thought about it, I'm planning on building at least 2-3 guitars and will probably incorporate some of the Liger's concepts into one of them. The first one I plan on building I'm going to keep pretty simple so it'll be one of the later ones that gets all the fancy stuff like active electronics and whatnot. ;)

No it's a Copy. Do a little googling and you'll find that Jerry's Guitar was Called TIGER and was a custom 1-off.

THis guy's making copies of Jerry's guitars

Nice copies. And the prices aren't bad either if they use decent components!

The effects loop seems to be a cool idea - but then you have one "y" cable going out to your effects (with send/return legs), and a different cable going out to your amp.

Seems like I already have enough trouble tripping over ONE guitar cable - I don't like my chances with twice as many cables
