I know I'm not the only one, don't bs me. Since my wife is home on those days I have to be very careful when I place my parts orders so they don't come either of those days. The struggle is real people.....lol. Every once in a while a package shows up and well, you know the story..........I have some splaining to do.
In my case she buys unnecessary stuff like porcelain figurines, so I don't worry about stuff that I buy that actually has a use.
It wouldn't bother her if I bought parts for a guitar and kept it but I have a bad habit of putting good parts in an axe and getting rid of it......just to do the same thing again....lol
My late wife never had a problem with any of my deliveries. If the money was in the budget for purchases, whether parts, amp or whole guitars, there was no issue. Watch how you do your wives, all too soon they may no longer be there. Sent from my VS988 using Tapatalk
My wife came with me to Times Square to pick up the Harley Benton LP from GC. She had to wait outside for me because there's no parking. I told her what a great deal I got, and she replied, "Great. How much can you sell it for?" Yikes ... not selling it. ha ha
Have them deliver to an Amazon or UPS locker. Or get an "address" at one of those mailboxes places where they can take guitar-sized boxes. Also, get a burner cell phone, a separate credit card, and use the private/incognito feature of your browser. Not that you should ever hide anything from your wife.
It would have actually been faster had I driven to the edge of Queens, and take the subway for the last two stops. I was stuck in almost an hour's worth of cross town traffic. Horrible !!!
Nah. I just have everything shipped to my girlfriend's house. Seriously though, my wife knows my one in/one out policy and is probably happy that I use $$ from sales to buy more gear. That leaves more paycheck money for her.
Same thing. We both get packages all the time. I'm even putting up some shelves for her glass knick knacks. Then I'm buying a guitar...
My mom's house is two blocks away. All my musical contraband gets quarantined there until I can figure a way to introduce it to my wife.
When I walk in the house with an new used guitar my wife asks if I'm going to flip it. I just say eventually, which is true. When I was into vintage audio gear I was able to do a lot of fixing and flipping. Amps, speakers and especially turntables. I got to the point where I was doing work for others and my hobby more than supported itself with money left over to contribute to the household fund. That old gear kind of dried up and I turned my interest to guitars. I'm learning that it's not so easy to make this hobby support itself. But, thankfully I have a very supportive wife, as long as I'm reasonable.
A very dear friend of mine had a wife that would make his life unbearable anytime he brought something music related in to the house..Even though he always made money on any deal.. One day he told her that he was storing it for me..Big mistake..Our wives were talking on the phone one day and the subject came up.. Now I'm in trouble..Why are you hiding things at Tim's house.??? Thankfully, my wife was more understanding so I was good.. But then my wife called Tim's wife and set the record straight.. Soap opera ...
