    New Hakko Tip Day...

I can't speak highly enough on the durability of the Hakko brand soldering iron tips. The one on the right is original to my FX-888 soldering station and has lasted 8 years of steady use. Just in the last week or so it has started to finally show it's age with some uneven heating and visible deterioration. So I ordered a new one a few days ago. There are plenty of aftermarket ones that fit this unit but I sprung for a new Hakko branded one. Figured 10 bucks every decade isn't a bad investment.

I have to say the 888 is the best soldering station in the affordable range. I spent years working with high end PACE equipment. Tools like this are every bit as important to talk about in these forums in my opinion. I suspect many an expensive pickup wire has been wicked by a cheap iron. Anyhoo -take care scottR
