wow - missed seeing this over the weekend! what a beauty!
HNGD!! (a few days late )
Sweet! Is that a two-color burst or three. Looks like two but I can't tell for sure.
I don't own one at the moment but I do appreciate a nice axe no matter what the brand name is.
If it plays well grab it and put it in your collection. I have found that MIM Strats are very well built when comparing to a Fender Strat.
I have found that the specs on a MIM are very good for the most part. Remember, some of the best luthiers come from Mexico: BC Rich and many acoustic builders
When I look for foundation guitars to build and or modify I generally look at Squires (Affinity) and Epiphones. Both are made well if you look around. I bought a MIM Squire for $40 and dropped nearly $500 bills into it. Completely rewired it to custom specs and wound up with a very nice Eric Clapton clone.
I replaced the scratchy pickup selector switch. I tried contact cleaner and inspecting the contact points, but nothing got rid of the problem … other that a new Oak Grigsby switch. Also a set of Schaller strap locks.
I noticed that the string tree didn't come with a spacing collar, just the tree wings, which was screwed down to the headstock. I never seen that before so I added one.
I can see why it was asked....it’s almost a toss-up. Congrats, that’s a sweet one. Newbie Q: what does HNGD mean?
I was very fortunate last year and my brother helped me get this MiM Strat Plus-Top with the flamed maple (over an alder body) and the nice, light-touch sunburst. This might be the best “score” of my guitar acquisitions. The original owner kept it in his home studio. Set up perfect, no issues and in literally not-a-mark-on-it condition for $275.
Happy New Guitar Day
That's a real beauty. Hang on to that one!
