Title about says it all. I scored a good deal on this Peavey Patriot, the seller said it’s an 84, I have no idea how to tell that seems about right based off my google search. No case and not in any sort of collectors condition, but for $120 I’m not mad! I’m liking it a lot, cool sounding pickups. Got me considering offloading my strat to offset the cost. I told my wife I was gonna flip the peavey when I got it, but I’m wondering if I don’t like it more.... anyways, pics! (I particularly love the wear on the fretboard. the frets, surprisingly, aren’t worn all that much.) 7DF77742-021C-4DBF-A46B-A37789AE3A3C.jpeg AE198954-69E8-467B-B51B-318CBB9EF3A5.jpeg CF340C77-CA63-4A91-9013-CC0412404AB3.jpeg image.jpg 1AAF9EC7-EB23-46AA-9360-FF1187396E3A.jpeg

Don’t suppose anyone knows what kind of finish is on these? It looks to me like nitro, but I’m not too well versed in how the various materials age. I know they were pretty inexpensive guitars so I would think some kind of poly, but I’ve never seen poly really wear off like this. I do wonder if whoever wore down the fretboard had really long nails, since the fret wear isn’t really matching the finish wear. Maybe long nails just kinda scraped it off...

I don’t know, how can you tell if they are Bill Lawrence(s)? They seem to be the same pickups that were used in the T-15, very cool bluesy sound in the neck and bright and twangy in the bridge.

It sounds like it to me, perhaps a hair narrower than a HB. Single coil blade super ferrites.

Yep, super ferrites made by Peavey. They have a really unique sound.

Made a little demo for a sound comparison. I’m not much of a lead player so forgive for avoiding it completely haha. This was the amp settings. 2BF8097F-8757-405F-BAFC-4E36D70A80AB.jpeg
