Last of the unopened box rosewood fretboard CV60'S Strats at GC. They had 30 left in their system, but they were all floor models. Ordered a VB CV Tele, but they're backordered until April 10th then they switched to April 18th, and then they pushed it again until mid May. I couldn't wait for a new guitar, (impulse issues and I want what I want when I want it) so when they found an unopened box CV rosewood strat, I canceled the Tele and took this instead. I still haven't opened it. Hoping it's a good one. Still gassing for a Tele though
No flame but It has what looks like a small knot on the back of the neck that at first I thought I didn't like, but it gives it its own little character . Pretty guitar, like all the CV'S. A lot lighter than my other CV60's felt. Tele on backorder up next!!
You got a good one, just like I did. Mine is also lightweight, which I think is a good thing. Heavier ones seem to make the Tonerider pickups sound a bit thinner and more harsh or shrill. And, like mine, they did a great job matching the pieces so no seams are visible. That's why I'm always leery of ordering any transparent finished guitar sight unseen, 'cause sometimes they're not well matched, even on more expensive MIM or MIA Fenders, or even LP Standards (which are supposed to have bookmatched tops, but often don't look like it).
Yeah I'm happy with the way it looks. It wouldn't have been a problem, as i ordered it from GC, and would've just returned it. Tomorrow I'll play around with it, check the truss rod, frets etc. But I don't anticipate anything wrong.
Thanks. I really wanted a vintage blonde cv50's Tele, and ordered it weks ago, but they kept pushing the backorder, which now is into mid May. I figured this was a good opportunity to grab one of these new as they no longer make em with the rosewood.
The pics, even on Fender's website, don't do them justice. They look MUCH classier in person, both the finish and the Tort pickguard.
Absolutely. I was floored when I got my first one used a few months back. They really do an amazing job with these. Especially the Sunburst. If they didn't have squier on the headstock, i would think it's a very expensive instrument.
Keep looking at the used ones on GC. There are some good ones out there, you just have to search them out. I predict you will have that tele in the near future. Enjoy that strat until then.
