I saw this a few days and posted it on another Mustang thread. I was not going to get it..I knew it wouldn't last long for 3 even on CL around here. Well it was still here today so to heck with it. 50 mins later and a trip toward Knox vegas and its mine. First mij guitar i ever owned the first Mustang i have owned in 40 years the first was a beat to crap early 60's pretty good shape for 16 years old. The Gibson Burst bucker will have to go for sure. Back to stock type elements for it. mij mustang 001.jpg mij mustang 002.jpg mij mustang 003.jpg mij mustang 004.jpg mij mustang 005.jpg

Man!.. that is sweet!... could be a cobain stang but I think the bridge would have the gibson adjustomatic type..
Definitely worth investigating how the humbucker was routed.. I think the special had two wide range buckers..
Definitely not your average mustang.. congrats!..
Edit: Actually I think its the 69 reissue..

If it lasted 3 days it was an omen. It was meant for you. MIJ guitars are just plain awesome...I've had a few. Congrats on that beauty!!

I think you are right on the model. 69' RI competition blue. The original owner said it had white pearl PG with 2 single coils when he got it new. Wish he had kept the parts!

Nice score and glad you snagged it! Like I said in the other thread, I already own two Fender Mustangs but I would have been all over that one if I lived closer. Fender Mustangs are hands down my favorite guitars!

That vid makes me want that dude's amp more than anything. Great combination of the right amp for the right guitar and playing style.

My thoughts exactly. Sometimes demos of the pu's in these guitars don't cut it and i think something isn't right. I know they can sound better than this.
