I got this Mexican strat this morning with the standard HSS pickguard. The more I was looking at the color I decided that I wanted to keep this guitar and put in a pickguard that I put together into it. It also had some ugly record player type knobs on it that I did not like. I like it now with the black pickguard covers and can't decide whether to go with black knobs or stick with the way it is. SL-1 in the neck and middle, JBjr in the bridge. Treble bleed and tone on bridge, I did not bother with tapping the bridge because I never would use it. I usually am not a fan of the late 90s early 2000s Mexican standards but this one has a great neck on it and like I said I love the color. 1543959374711.jpg 1543959423917.jpg BEFORE

Opinions on knob color? I'm leaning black...

You had me at Agave... but sadly I have never found a MIM that I liked because of the necks.

    Black.

Looks great now. If those record player knobs weren't so huge they probably wouldn't be that bad. I would go with the black witch hat knobs from a Fender amp.

I always liked the colors from that era. I never had a Blue agave one, but I liked that color. I had a Sage Green one and a Midnight Wine one, which was my favorite color from that time. The Fender dealer here in Honolulu has never had a great selection in stock, and sometimes I have to get them to order something I want. But, they're very cool about it. They don't charge me for the shipping, and if I don't like it when it arrives, they will let me pass on it, and they just add it to what they have on the wall.

It's funny, 'cause what they call LPB now looks very similar to Blue Agave. It's too light. Real LPB in the 60's was much darker. Fender seems to do that with several colors now, making them look like a faded 50 year old one, rather than what they looked like back then when new. Compare these pics of current LPB and BM vs. the real thing. 679457.jpg 1.jpg nx0hlomffnmsgcak4r6b.jpg galpic127-895x844.jpg
