I got this blk star caster body cheap and i need a maple fb neck for it. I bought an affinity last week with a rw fretboard now i need a maple. I have no idea what this thing sounds like except some you tube clips so i will see.. I have never bought a squier strat before i have played a few that were nice. I am going to get an import neck for this body first and try it before doing the allparts or other US sellars route. I am not a strat guy but i had an urge for one again. strat bod 001.jpg

A Strat is a good guitar to have around even if it isn't played often. I have three that are rarely played, but still nice to have around. (although just one would be plenty for me).

It’ll grow on you. I used to hate everything about them even though I didn’t actually spending time trying different models out.
This site gave me a a new itch so when I finally got a cheap used SE and converted it, I became a strat lover (second to my Les Paul love).
Slap a black pickguard on it with some upgraded pickups and join the club :)

I read somewhere that Roger Waters only allows "dreaded" black guitars on stage.

Not a big fan of black but a maple neck really sets it off.

I don't care for black bodies either but it was cheap and full thickness.

I thought of refin on it but the more i don't look at it as a black guitar it doesn't bother me.

Not for me! I have three Strats and four Teles, all maple except the SE Strat and I really wish it had maple (and wasn't black).
