I just came back from picking up the neck for my next creation. I'll keep it secret for a while, but I really hope to put some Rose P-90s in it that have a lot of "jangle". I really liked the sound of the Epi Casino P-90s Ken rewound for me last Christmas. I put them in an Epi LP Special (See Photo) that was just sweet and had "THAT" tone......

This next project is several months down the road so don't get impatient. Ken is UBER-busy right now, and I want him calm and relaxed when it's time for pickups to put in it. ;)

I've been doing repairs/maintenance/setups for a lot of folks lately. One of my customers saw Lacey (the pink Strat/Wenge neck) and fell in love when he played it; but..... he's always wanted a '69 Thinline. So he came by yesterday to drop off his band-mates Epi 339 (amazing guitar) for a tune-up. Then he saw this Tele hanging on the rack in nearly complete form. Suffice it to say, he's going to buy it if he can sell off some gear (an American Strat and an Egnater Tweaker head).

I've already been planning my next project and if something sells, I'll pull the trigger on a special body I've had my eye on. I may use the Wudtone stain system IronChef is planning in another thread, or I may......er....ummm.......Never mind. For now, I will call my next creation: Secret Project X²....

    Stay tuned.......

You use all American parts and wiring?

Yes, although I'm not certain of the origin of the tuners; they may be Asian (they were on the neck when I got it). I do all my own wiring, so that's definitely MIA.

    Awesome.

I don't put 'Made in the USA' on any of mine because usually the control plate or knobs or something are foreign-made. If someone wants all USA stuff, I do it, but they get charged more. Most of the time, they just opt for the foreign stuff.

I think they're just happy that someone in the States built it. Personally, I don't have an issue with the foreign stuff. I know there are people that do, however.

Yeah, it is kinda dark. I had hoped the cap would have had some grain patterns like the Strat in the example, but it is what it is...... ;)

I went ahead and pulled the trigger on the body for Secret Project X². I'm watching IronChef's thread with the Wudtone finish, or I may do the Reranch paint system (Daphne Blue of course ), or maybe I'll do the torch finish on it, A lot depends on the grain; its a 2-piece body, but maybe not grain matched.

Well, I just arrived in Lone Pine for another 5 days of flying and what do you think I found in my email inbox? That's right; notification that the body for Secret Project X² has showed up at my doorstep. This will be a fun project!

The rest of the parts for the Thinline showed up before I left and I applied shielding paint to the cavities before hitting the road. I'll have it done within a day or two of arriving home.

    All is good!

Well, the Thinline is done. :D I'll post photos later. The body for Secret Project X² showed up while I was flying in Lone Pine. It now has a couple of coats of sanding sealer on it and getting ready for some major sanding.

I'm thinking I'll post pics when Secret Project X² is finished, just to keep everybody in suspense. It will have P90s from Ken, so it may be a bit of a wait..... ;):cool:
