In some of my recent dealings, I acquired a nice Tortie Strat pickguard loaded with Rose Mariposas.

So now, I'm sitting here thinking: "What the H#!! am I going to do with THAT?" So I start surfing the Interwebs and find this:

I thought a genuine Fender Light Ash body in near mint condition with a 2-point tremolo would look real nice with that Tortie PG, so I pulled the trigger. Now what about a neck?

Yep, you guessed it! There's a brand-new, 22-fret, vintage tint, highly flamed, QUARTERSAWN neck on the way too. Looks like those Mariposas will find their way into S/N 050!!

My camera is still in the shop after freaking out, so additional photos will have to wait. This project will be in the "For Sale/Trade" pile when completed. Probably for less than a rather pedestrian used MIA, or new MIM Strat; neither of which have KILLER wood parts.

    Whaddaya think?

Yes, it is a maple FB, but.............

I have become fond of the new Hipshot locking, staggered tuners. No more need for string trees and such.

You really need to thin your herd and start selling and trading guitars. I say this with no ulterior motives. ;)

That's the plan with this one. I had an extra pickguard, so I'll build a guitar around it and sell it to some lucky guy (or gal).

Let me know when you finish. Just in case I have cash laying around. Sooner or later I'd like to try out a birddog special. Your builds always look great and I really like a natural finish.

Damn you BD.. though I am resistant to natural finishes I find if you stare to long at them ( looking for the seams) there uniqueness starts to rub off on you.. so ill just ask,, is that a one piece body?..

    Just follow this thread.... ;)

I don't have it in my hands yet so it's hard to tell. I've examined the photo closely and if it isn't one-piece, they did a great job of matching two pieces. I'll report in full when I receive it.

Just took a long hard look at the body, and I'm gonna guess it's' a 2 piece, of course, better pic's would help. Still, it looks great, and I have NO room for another geetar..:p :D
