This may be old hat to some members, but I thought since I was swapping necks on a build, I'd post this info. Not all screw holes line up when swapping necks, so a "drill 'n fill" is needed. First off, select a dowel size of ¼" diameter and a ¼" drill bit for the drill press. Clamp the neck steady once lined up with the bit and set to depth. I'm my case it was just shy of ⅝" depth. Protection on the table like a micro-fiber or terry cloth helps to not damage the frets. Place the dowel into the new holes, mark and cut to length. Elmers or any white glue in the holes, and tap the plugs into place. Make sure they are flush with the neck heel … sand level if necessary. (not needed here) Part 2 to follow.
