  1. This may be old hat to some members, but I thought since I was swapping necks on a build, I'd post this info.
Not all screw holes line up when swapping necks, so a "drill 'n fill" is needed.

First off, select a dowel size of ¼" diameter and a ¼" drill bit for the drill press. Clamp the neck steady once lined up with the bit and set to depth. I'm my case it was just shy of ⅝" depth. Protection on the table like a micro-fiber or terry cloth helps to not damage the frets.

Place the dowel into the new holes, mark and cut to length.
Elmers or any white glue in the holes, and tap the plugs into place.

Make sure they are flush with the neck heel … sand level if necessary. (not needed here)

    Part 2 to follow.

  2. Now set the screws in place in place with the neck plate as protection against clamp pressure marks.

Clamp down and tap the screw heads to mark the neck for the new screw positions.

Select a drill bit from the new holes. Make sure it's the correct diameter bit for the shank so the threads will bite.

Clamp and drill the new screw holes.

    Part 3 to follow.
  3. Set the neck in the neck pocket and clamp.

Screw down the neck while clamped to keep good contact with the body.

Complete. This takes less than an hour depending your speed and produce good results without issues.

Cheers, and happy builds everyone. Barrie.;)
