Just scored a cracking deal on one these Standard Series...

The ‘antique’ burst is quite unusual, like a red burst? Not sure I’ve seen this on any other line. I’m not a fan of the tort’ look, I much prefer vintage spec’s, so was thinking of a mint guard? Do you think it’ll go?

Black or black pearloid? Cream or parchment also if your mint is too green and it flips over into Christmas territory.

Christmas!! Yes, now I see it! I need to be really careful; it did’nt even occur to me. Hang a bauble or two off the volume and tone knobs...

Mint could work great but parchment would be safer.

Thanks, guys. Nearly went for the mint but we’re so near to Christmas I couldn’t risk it looking like a Tele-tree...

I'd leave it be, but, that's my lazy arse. Have never had a guitar that I did anything to for aesthetics.....well, except my Epi LP, removed the pickguard and poker chip. And the pickguard on my old acoustics fell mostly off with age, so I removed it totally, cleaned off the adhesive residue, and I dig the look 'cause the top had darkened after a few decades of being on a stand, and the revealed wood is much lighter - kinda a ghost of a 'guard

#1 this finish color wasn't available back when vintage Fenders were made

#2 this is a modern model, not a vintage inspired one at all

#3 - I think the tort is PERFECT for it.....
