I got so many, I'm sure I'd have a few duplicate names. Ever work with someone named Mike, Emiliy, Jessica, or Jim?

Most of my guitars were named at the factory. Tele, Strat, Ibby, Electra, Paul....

Nope never, I think that is reserved for guitar gods and legends.

That's my practice as well. It saves me the trouble of having to come up with names.

Yes, but some of them named their guitars before they became legends....so I’m optimistic

    No

I know a lot of people (my old guitar teacher for one) call their guitars “she” and how BB King called his Lucille, but my favourite guutarist of all time, Rory Gallagher said in an interview that he calls his strat what it was, a strat and I go by that

I've named about 1/3 of mine. And oddly enough, no real rhyme or reason. Definitely not that they are my top 1/3. Think I'll go name a few more.....

  9. Oops … I'd best stand down on those names then.

Hmmm...haven't tried that naming convention. Maybe Patch, Hook, Plank, Sparrow, Ahhhhrrrrr?

No and none of my cars either for that matter. I think if I did, though, I’d go a different direction. “That’s not ‘Red,’ that’s the ‘Sonic Transducer!’ And in a way, Leo was of the same mindset - Stratocaster? Sounds pretty damn badass!

If you name them, you wife will know that you have more than 1.

LOL …. My wife knows.....of my current stable, she bought me my first and my last.... she doesn't understand amps, though - she thought an amp head and a speaker cab were 2 amps …. she knos better, now. I feel I'm pretty set with my "tonal" pallete with my several guitars and a few decent amps, no need to buy or want for more, barring I hit the Powerball, or something :)

For the most part I do not name guitars. I had acoustics before becoming a squier dude - named none of them (including my first guitar that was my grandmother's).

Strats are a bit different because they do have a certain personality, and working on them is part of the bonding experience.

So I've named two Strats. My NK4 black bullet (and my first electric) is named "X" because the white bridge pickup and white volume knob form an exclamation point - completely by accident because I broke a pot / knob when replacing electronics because it was superglued on.

Recently I named this one "Mellow Yellow" - my first refin - badly done but it still brought out the character of the guitar. But it was a nice experience and is something different than the black SE it started out as. It is a keeper, just today I rolled the fretboard edges and took the finish off the back of the neck. "Mellow" because I used the weakest Alnicos I have on hand ranging from 5.6 - 5.8k.

My guitars are like my kids. It doesn't matter what their names are, they never come when I call them.

Can’t say I’ve ever been inclined to name them. I just refer to them as what they are make, model, colour etc
